This weekend, it’s time to raise a glass to all the awesome dads and granddads in our lives. Since we have these Father’s Day breakfast recipes lined up for Dad’s day, it’s only right that we toast with Bloody Marys. Though typically served at breakfast, the way we plan on doing, Bloody Marys are a great anytime drink. They are also easy to make without booze. In fact, I find a Bloody Mary mocktail just a satisfying as a Bloody Mary cocktail, and if I’m sipping in the morning, it doesn’t knock me out for the day. Always a plus.
Let Dad decide if he wants his spiked or not. He might want the chance to conk out for day. (Or maybe he can hold his liquor better than I can. It doesn’t take much.) Either way, it’s easy to personalize this classic drink exactly to his taste. And yours, too.
If you’re entertaining a crowd, you have to check out this build-your-own Bloody Mary bar at FoodieCrush. Heidi shares a recipe for her favorite Bloody Mary and also gives tons of ideas for how to set up a beautiful make-your-own spread so that people can choose booze or no booze and from a lovely array of garnishes.
If you’d rather make one small batch, try this Beet-Infused Bloody Mary recipe that we found at Country Cleaver. There isn’t time to properly infuse vodka with beets, but adding beet juice will work just as well. The beet-juice approach also makes this a satisfying mocktail that doesn’t loose out by omitting the alcohol. And that bacon garnish: Could there be any more perfect a flourish for a meat-eating dad?
