Before you head over to your foodie friend’s holiday cocktail party or Yankee swap, switch things up from your usual bottle of wine and grab a bottle of FAIR Quinoa Vodka. Yes, quinoa. Vodka.

If you’re looking for a boozy gift that blends”WHAT kind of vodka?” and “hey, this is delicious,” FAIR Quinoa Vodka should do it.

It’s the result of a two-year joint research project between Andean farmers of South America and French distillers of France. The vodka base is a fair-trade certified quinoa harvested from high up in the Andes mountains where it grows in nutrient-rich volcanic soil, which means FAIR Quinoa Vodka isn’t some gimmicky thing like kale hand lotion or deep-fried chia seeds.

In fact, it’s won a bunch of awards including this month’s Exceptional rating from the Beverage Tastings Institute.

I haven’t tried it, but it’s described as a smooth vodka with hints of fruit and spice that taste great alone or in cocktails. And as you might have imagined, FAIR Quinoa Vodka is gluten-free, should that be of importance to you or your gift recipient. Or both?  Hey, you’ve been very good this year too, right?

FAIR Quinoa Vodka is available for online purchase in the U.S. only in California, Texas, and New York. As a Massachusetts resident, this is very sad news for me, but hopefully good news for you.
