There’s no chance that I can get away with dipping eggs in plain old dye now that my kids have seen the fun Easter egg DIYs over at Cool Mom Picks, from superhero Easter eggs to tie dye Easter eggs and food-themed Easter eggs to splatter paint Easter eggs (messy, but so cool). But when I saw this clever ice cream cone Easter egg tutorial at The Decorated Cookie, I knew my kids would melt over them. Ha!
These look pretty complicated, I admit, but the tutorial is actually quite easy. And they’re just so cute! In fact, I’m thinking of setting up an ice cream sundae bar at our Easter brunch for the kids with these cute eggs as the centerpiece. Perfect, right?

If you think that these might be too tricky for your kids to make on their own, go ahead and paint the ice cream top before they join you. Then, they can add the sprinkles, candy dots, and cone cross-hatch pattern.
By the way, holding the eggs while you paint can be tricky, so don’t miss Meaghan’s tips for how to prop them up while you decorate. So clever.
Oh, and the best part? Since these are made with real hardboiled eggs, you can have your ice cream and eat it too.
