‘Tis the season for delicious fresh fruit, which also means the perennial “how do you kill these darn fruit flies?” Google search. Please tell me I’m not the only one.

Thankfully, our team has tried a few methods, a couple of which (the paper cone and the saran wrap, to be exact) worked pretty well.

However, as much as we love the DIY methods, they’re a little gross and unsightly on your kitchen counter. There’s nothing like waking up for your morning coffee to a floating graveyard full of fruit flies staring at you.

How to kill fruit flies: Fruit Fly Trap

That’s why I’m so down with this $16 fruit fly trap. Just add a little apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap, and pop that baby on your counter. By morning, you’ll catch all your fruit flies, which you don’t have stare at or accidentally knock over (true story, that really happened).

One caveat: just make sure everyone knows what it is, because if your kids are like my kids, they’ll think it’s some new parmesan cheese holder or salt shaker and well, you know what happens next.
