Feeding little kids day in and day out can be draining, so I was so happy to discover the Baby-Led Weaning Recipe Book: 120 Recipes to Let Your Baby Take the Lead by Annabel Karmel, the popular UK-based child nutrition expert who’s written dozens of books about feeding kids over the past 25 years. It just launched in the US a few weeks ago, after a successful UK run.
And actually, “happy” doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about this cookbook, which I couldn’t wait to come here and share with all of you.
In fact, it’s a really helpful resource, even if you’re not on the baby-led weaning train, or have slightly older kids.

Doesn’t that look better than some purée?
If you’re new to baby-led weaning, know that the recipe book takes on a straight-to-solids approach, skipping the purées and spoon-feeding.
(Also skipping the “here comes the airplane” coaxing. Phew.)
The book is full of gorgeous photography and easy recipes that use only a handful of ingredients. Plus, most of the recipes — like Squash, Spinach, and Ricotta Risotto or Tuna Tortilla Tartlets — seem like great dinner options for the whole family, not just the babes.
This way, you don’t have to cook two separate meals at each meal. I may be serving waffles — but this isn’t a Waffle House, kiddos.
