Yesterday, when Dolly Parton tweeted “I’ve teamed up with @jenisicecreamsto create my very own flavor in support of @dollyslibrary! Strawberry Pretzel Pie is available at Jeni’s April 8,” I mean…sold, right?
Not that you need another reason to try a new flavor from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, but this is a good one: Each pint of (delicious, delicious) Strawberry Pretzel Pie is described by Jeni’s as “our ode to the Queen of Country: sweet and salty, with timeless appeal, deep American roots, and makes you feel good.”
Personally, I could eat it for breakfast all week and chalk it up to pouring myself a cup of ambition if you know what I mean.

Of course, Dolly being Dolly, she’s directing profits toward Dolly’s Imagination Library which donates early reader books to young children internationally, to help inspire a love of reading and increase early literacy.
So you’re eating ice cream FOR THE CHILDREN.
(Hear that, donut shamers? You can’t stop us from eating delicious treats for a great cause.)
Just know that Jeni’s Dolly Parton ice cream flavor is a limited run — they’re only making 10,000 pints, and I know a few fans who’d buy that all themselves. Most are available for shipping, though plenty will be available in their scoop shops around the country starting at 12 noon April 8. I say if you can’t line up in person, set your alarm for 11:50AM on April 8 and start hitting refresh refresh refresh on the Jeni’s website until you get one.
I imagine by mid-April, quite a few of us will have our spoons right in our pints, while we stream a Steel Magnolias / 9 to 5 double feature.
